    Occasion: Abigail Fisher applied to the University of Texas but was denied. She says she was denied because of her race. She claims that she had the same grade as other students who were a different race and they got in. She is bringing her issue to the Supreme Court.

    Audience: The audience is anyone who wants to read about an issue for students applying for college.

    Purpose: The purpose of this article is to inform the audience about an issue some students may have while applying to college.

    Subject: Abigail Fisher filed lawsuit because she felt that the college she applied to denied her because of her race.

    Tone: The tone of this article is serious because it discusses a problem that anyone going into college could face.
